CANTON -- Northern Glass, Inc., based in Watertown, has opened a Canton office and showroom.

“We’ve had a presence in St. Lawrence County for years” as one of the areas the company has served, “but we’ve been doing more and more work there, a steady increase in business, so that segued into a place there,” said Linda Petrie who, with her brother Ian Hill, now own and run the business that first began in 1949.

Leasing about 3,000 square feet at 2564 State Rt. 68 near the entrance to SUNY Canton, they are ready to do more of the glass work for schools and commercial buildings, and custom shower enclosures, middle to high-end residential windows, sunrooms, and auto glass replacement.

Among jobs they have done in St. Lawrence County recently are work on seven SUNY Potsdam buildings, at SUNY Canton, and Potsdam school glass work.

The space at the Canton location includes offices and a showroom on the ground floor and a fabricating area downstairs, plus room to install auto glass.

“The showroom in Canton is perfect,” Petrie said. “We wish we had that in Watertown. We’re busting at the seams there,” Petrie said.

There are three full-time employees in Canton now, and fourth will be hired soon, Petrie said, with expectations of hiring more before long.

The showroom is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment at other times.

Their phone number is 315-714-2412 and email is info@northernglass.com
