Republican challenger for the NY- 21st Congressional District Elise Stefanik, Willsboro, has been endorsed by the Saratoga County Republicans.
Former St. Lawrence County Emergency Services Director Joseph Gilbert, DeKalb, and Michael F. Ring, Adams Center, are also chasing the Republican endorsement.
Rep. Bill Owens, a Democrat, currently holds the congressional seat. The district includes St. Lawrence County and several surrounding counties.
Saratoga County’s Republican committee overwhelmingly gave their support to Stefanik at a recent meeting.
“Elise Stefanik has the fresh energy, innovative ideas, skills and passion to bring a new generation of leadership to Washington to represent the 21st Congressional District. As a small businesswoman, she will focus on creating jobs and growing economic opportunity for the hardworking families of our district,” said Chairman John Herrick.
“There are many challenges ahead for our nation and Elise outlined a plan that will help the small businesses in our district grow. We look forward to working with her during the election season.”
“Washington is broken and needs new ideas and new leadership. I am humbled by the support of the Saratoga County GOP and will continue to work hard to earn the support of the entire 21st Congressional District,” said Stefanik. “When I was a kid, my family risked everything to start our family's small business and we understand firsthand the challenges facing small businesses in Upstate New York. The people of the 21st Congressional District deserve a new representative with fresh ideas who will help fix Washington.”
Stefanik has prioritized helping generate jobs and economic opportunities for small business owners and New York citizens. She is focused on cutting the federal red tape and high taxes holding job creators back.
Stefanik says Americans deserve economic certainty from its government. She will fight for a smarter, smaller government and fiscal responsibility in Congress so that the federal government keeps its promises to American citizens.
Stefanik says she understands the unique needs of 21st Congressional District from supporting Main Street businesses, to protecting Fort Drum and ensuring our military families and veterans get the care, services and job opportunities they've earned, to supporting our local farms which are the backbone of many of our communities. Furthermore, she pledges to be a voice for constitutional conservatism protecting Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.
