Assemblywoman Janet Duprey will not seek reelection according the Franklin County Republican Committee.
Duprey represents Brasher, Hopkinton, Lawrence and Piercefield in St. Lawrence County, as well as all of Franklin and Clinton counties.
Franklin County Republican Committee Chairman Ray Scollin said her party expects to put a candidate forward soon.
“Conversations between the Clinton, Franklin, and St. Lawrence County Republican Committees are ongoing, and we will be announcing our candidate for this seat in the near future, likely next week,” she said.
“We feel, and more importantly, our rank-and-file committee members feel, that it is critically important to provide the residents of the 115th District with a choice come November, and that is what we’ll do. Now, more than ever, we need principled representation in Albany that will stand strong against regulatory overreach.”
Scollin said there will be a candidate from the North Country who "will represent Republican values on long overdue ethics reform, practical support for our small-business owners and our individual freedoms; particularly the Second Amendment."
