North Country Republican Assemblyman Marc Butler is urging Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to sign the “Women’s Equality Agenda” into law.
“Women’s Equality issues have had an uphill battle over the past few years just to get passed by the Legislature. Under former Speaker Silver, the bills were held up because of political grandstanding. We fortunately overcame that, and passed the bills individually to help protect and support women in our state,” Butler said in released statement. “We addressed domestic violence, sexual harassment in the work place, wage gap issues, and human trafficking matters. I do not understand why the governor would delay signing these bills into law, but I encourage him to sign them immediately. These matters are just too important to delay until next year. End the delay, sign the bills now.”
Butler represents 118th Assembly District, which includes the St. Lawrence County towns of Madrid, Norfolk, Stockholm, Parishville, Pierrepont, Clare, Colton, Clifton and Fine, plus Hamilton, Herkimer and Fulton counties plus part of Oneida County.
