North Country Assemblywoman Addie J. Russell recently received endorsements from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Civil Service Employees Association and Public Employees Federation.
Republican candidate John Byrne has been endorsed by a dozen local, state and federal Republican representatives for St. Lawrence County, including Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, State Sen. Patty Ritchie, Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush and St. Lawrence County Clerk Mary Lou Rupp.
St. Lawrence County legislators Kevin Acres, Don Hooper, Joe Lightfoot, Dave Forsythe, Joel LaPierre and Larry Denesha, Town of Massena Supervisor Joe Gray and City of Ogdensburg Mayor Wayne Ashley are also backing Byrne. Ten elected officials from Jefferson County also have endorsed him.
Russell and Byrne have been in a heated race for Assembly District that covers a large portion of northern St. Lawrence County, including Massena, Ogdensburg, Canton and Potsdam.
