POTSDAM -- A Norfolk woman was held on $5,000 bail after she allegedly cashed stolen checks at local banks and businesses.
Kayla M. O'Brien, 19, of Norfolk, was charged with eight counts of second-degree forgery and one count of third degree grand larceny, a felony,
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies say O'Brien stole the checks from a victim's home, forged them, and then cashed them at local stores and banks.
Deputies said she was arraigned by Judge Charleson in Potsdam and sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Deputies say the crime is still under investigation and more arrests are pending.
