NORFOLK -- A Norfolk woman was held on $10,000 bail for allegedly collecting more than $9,000 in public assistance funding she was not entitled to.

St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said Anne P. Louissaint, 52, of 16 Morris St., was charged with third-degree welfare fraud and two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument.

Deputies said the St. Lawrence County Social Services Investigations Unit found that Louissant submitted applications for Medicaid and food stamps that contained false information.

Deputies said the fake data allowed Louissant to collect $9,170.26 from April 2010 to Sept. 2011.

Deputies said Louissaint was arraigned in Norfolk Town court and sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
