NORFOLK – A Norfolk woman fled the scene of an accident on foot Wednesday night after her vehicle struck another vehicle at 16 South Main Street, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Pauline S. Durand, 36 South Main St., was charged with unlicensed operation, fleeing the scene of an accident, and following too close, officers said.
Officers said the driver of the second vehicle Sylvia A. Despaw, 72, 16 South Main St., Norfolk, was making a right turn around 8:25 p.m. into her driveway when the accident occurred.
Deputies said they also charged Durand’s son in-law, Christopher G. Planty, 34, Norfolk, with second-degree obstructing governmental administration for reportedly telling officers that he was the operator of the vehicle so that Durand would not get into trouble.
No injuries were reported.
