MASSENA -- Village police say they charged a Norfolk woman with a drug felony after she was allegedly discovered shooting heroin behind Wal-Mart early Monday morning.
Courtney R. Baxter, 20, of 9 Furnace St. is charged with one count fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and four counts of criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. She was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
U.S. Border Patrol Agent Trevor Kinblom filed a statement with the court saying that he was patrolling the parking lot late Sunday night and observed a car with two people in the back seat, which later turned out to be Baxter and her girlfriend.
He said he watched the car for about 10 minutes and noticed one of the people retrieve something from the trunk and return to the back seat. He said he watched them for another five minutes and approached the car after seeing them prepare heroin and a syringe.
He said the pair freely admitted they were using heroin when he asked what they were doing. Kinblom also noted that they attempted to hide their drugs and paraphernalia, but could see part of a syringe sticking out from inside the seat.
Baxter was charged at midnight on Monday morning, police said.
