Norfolk woman, cashier at Massena Walmart, accused of stealing and using customer's debit card

MASSENA -- A Norfolk woman is facing several felony charges for allegedly stealing a woman’s debit card while working as a cashier at Wal-Mart Supercenter in Massena.

Emily N. LaShomb, 21, is charged with two counts of second-degree forgery, one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, and two counts of petit larceny.

LaShomb made a statement to police following her arrest on Tuesday afternoon where she admitted taking Nora E. McGregor’s debit card on Sept. 5 and making two separate purchases. She first bought two packs of cigarettes and a lighter valued at $19.27, and later bought a Playstation 3 video game console, two games, and a paddle valued at $454.58, according to court documents. LaShomb signed McGregor’s name when she bought the cigarettes, she admitted.

LaShomb told police that McGregor came through her checkout line and made a purchase using the debit card, which she placed next to the credit card machine and swiped after McGregor left and forgot to reclaim it.
