NORFOLK -- Wagner Whistle Stop of United Methodist Church, 9 West Main St., marked its third year serving the community, providing affordable, gently-used items that support an improved quality of life of those in need.
They provide clothing and household items to those of limited means or struggling from unexpected tragedy. From young mothers needing baby/toddler clothes, kitchen basics for daily life, children quickly outgrowing shoes to Christmas presents for the entire family, warm winter coats and families displaced by fire with devastating loss.
They have shared in donations with Clarkson University; SUNY Canton; St Vincent de Paul Society; Helping Hands; Norwood Neighborhood Center; UMW Colton; Common Cents in Norwood; NNCS Elementary; NNCS HS Music/Drama Departments; Norfolk Hepburn Library; Norfolk Arena Summer/Winter Youth Programs; and nursing homes throughout St Lawrence County.
To meet the evolving needs of those they serve, beginning Aug. 1, donations specific to priority will only be accepted. The second Thursday of every month will feature an item at no cost to keep inventory moving and relevant to priority needs.
In August they will accept donations of cold weather adult clothing; children’s clothing and household items. The free item on Thursday, Aug. 13, will be adult blue jeans.
The Wagner Whistle Stop operates Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Satursdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
