BRASHER — The Norfolk-Norwood Squirts won the 2017 David Wilson Memorial Tourney, which was played January 28-29 in the Tri-Town Arena in Brasher.

The team advanced to the championship match by defeating Chazy 5-2 and tying Canton 2-2 on Saturday.

On Sunday morning the N-N team defeated host Tri-Town in a thrilling 3-2 contest to determine which team would advance to the championship round.

The N-N Squirts then took the tourney championship on Sunday afternoon by defeating Canton in a shootout after playing to a 2-2 tie in regulation on goals by Danielle Emerson and Dylan Lauzon.

The teams stayed deadlocked through two overtime periods before selecting five shooters each to go one-on-one versus the opposing goalie.

Macomb Richards and Danielle Emerson both scored on beautiful deke moves to defeat Canton 2-1 in the shoot-out.

Goalie Caleb Averill was named the championship game MVP.
