Norfolk man faces several charges including DWI, drug possession after fleeing police on foot in Potsdam

POTSDAM -- A Norfolk man faces numerous charges including driving while intoxicated and obstructing a governmental administration after allegedly fleeing on foot when Potsdam police attempted to make a traffic stop on Sunday morning.

Jordan M. Buffham, 19, was charged at 2:31 a.m. with first-offense DWI, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, underage possession of alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana, officers said.

Police said they observed Buffham's vehicle traveling south on Market Street in the center lane without headlights on.

When police initiated a traffic stop the subject reportedly fled on foot.

He was taken into custody after a brief chase and found to be in possession of alcoholic beverages and a small quantity of marijuana, officers said.

A chemical test revealed a blood-alcohol-content of .16 percent, police said.

Buffham was additionally charged with driving in center lane and no/inadequate headlights, officers said.

He was released on appearance tickets returnable to Potsdam Village Court Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m., polices aid.
