MASSENA – A Norfolk man shot himself in the Massena Memorial Hospital emergency room entrance early this morning just hours after being treated and released for injuries in a motor vehicle accident, according to village police Chief Timmy J. Currier.
Roger J. Wolfe, 48, 135 Adams Road, Norfolk, shot himself in the chest with a 20-gauge shotgun in the vestibule of the emergency room at 6:20 a.m. this morning, according to the release. Police used the video surveillance system to track Wolfe's actions.
Hospital personnel immediately responded and began to administer medical care, but were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead later in the day, the release states.
Earlier in the morning, Wolfe was involved in a car accident in Norwood, police said. He was transported by Norfolk Rescue Squad to Massena Memorial where he was treated and released to a family member at 4:30 a.m.
Currier states that the investigation is continuing.
