NORWOOD -- The Norfolk Lions Club recently held their local peace poster contest at Norwood-Norfolk Central School with local 11-13 year old artists creating a peace poster theme.

The local winners selected were: First place, Maycee Ward, 12, Norfolk; second place, Anneke Chudzinski, 13, Norwood, and third place was awarded to Shannyn St. Andrews, 12, Norwood.

Ward¹s poster was delivered to Plattsburgh where it was judged against other first place posters created by students sponsored by their local LIONS in other locations across northern New York State. Her poster was chosen as the third place winner on the district level.

This year is the third consecutive year that the Norfolk winning poster has also won at the district level.

The Lions Club worked with NNCS seventh grade art teacher Jason Hubbard ,who worked with the students providing guidance and direction as the students created their own representation of this years theme ³”Our Wold, Our Future.”

At a club reception held recently at the Norfolk Hepburn Library, 1 Hepburn St., the top three artists from NNCS were recognized. Students and their families were invited to attend and prize money was awarded to the finalists.

All 41 of the completed posters that were entered into the contest will be on display at the Norfolk Hepburn Library through closing Dec. 14.

The posters will also be on display at the Norwood Public Library, 1 Morton St., from Jan. 7 through Jan 25.
