CANTON -- SUNY Canton seeks nominations for its 2016 College Council Distinguished Citizen Award by Feb. 1.

Since 1976 the college has given this prestigious award in recognition of exceptional and distinguished service to SUNY Canton, to the community, to the state, or to the nation.

Members of the community are invited to submit nominations for the award. They must include a nomination letter, the name and position of the nominee, a description of the distinguished services, recognitions, facts or characteristics that are pertinent or informative, a brief biography of the nominee, and at least three supporting letters from non-family members. Additional supporting documentation can also be included.

Nominations, which are due by Feb. 1, should be addressed to SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran or SUNY Canton College Council Chairman Ronald M. O’Neill, Office of the President, 34 Cornell Drive, Canton, NY, 13617. Nominations can also be sent by email to youngm@canton.edu.

The award will be presented at the Faculty and Community Awards Dinner in May, and the recipient’s name will be prominently displayed on a plaque in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center.

Last year’s recipient Banford Elementary School counselor Kelley F. Glasgow.
