POTSDAM – Without a quorum, the village Board of Trustees could conduct no business at its scheduled meeting last night.
Trustee and Deputy Mayor Eleanor Hopke said she and Trustee Nick Sheehan were the only two board members who made it to the meeting in the Civic Center.
Mayor Ron Tischler had gone home sick and Trustee Steve Warr, who had earlier said he would be there, contacted board members before the meeting to say he could not be there.
Trustee Ruth Garner, who will turn 101 years old on Nov. 23, has not been to a meeting in some time, though board members said she is in touch with the village offices and is keeping up with issues.
So, Hopke said, the board could not take care of any business, such as paying bills, including a $27,250 bill from J.E. Sheehan Contracting on work on a coffer dam at the East Dam hydro plant during maintenance there.
The next meeting of the village board is set for Monday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
