CANTON -- Motorists can expect significant delays while driving at night through Canton as workers begin paving.
New York State Department of Transportation spokesman Michael Flick said nighttime paving operations are scheduled to begin on US Route 11 in the Village of Canton Monday, Oct. 8.
The work is part of the ongoing construction project that has drawn some angst from drivers and businesses in the past few months.
Flick said paving will occur between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. between Riverside Drive and Park Place.
He said the nighttime work is expected to be completed by Oct. 19.
Traffic lanes will remain open, controlled by flaggers.
The $10 million project is scheduled to be finished about a year from now, according to current estimates.
