Chase A. Donovan, 23, was charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon following a fight on State Route 131 in Massena at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Troopers say Donovan struck the victim in the back of his head with a 3-foot long pine log, causing a laceration to the victim’s head.
The victim was treated at Massena Memorial Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury, police said.
He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Joe Brown and released under the supervision of probation.
Donovan is to reappear in the Town of Massena Court on Dec. 14, at 1:30 p.m.
This investigation is still pending, police said.
