Nice day today in the North Country, gusty and rainy tomorrow

After a pleasant day today, rain and possibly damaging gusty winds are predicted for the St. Lawrence River Valley tomorrow and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

It will be sunny and mold today, with highs around 55.

Tonight, clouds are expected to increase, with lows around 40.

Tomorrow will be even warmer, with highs approaching 60 degrees, as winds pick up with gusts up to 30 mph, and up to 50 mph in parts of the North Country, which the NWS says could produce downed tree limbs and power lines. Rain is likely in the evening.

Wind and maybe some rain will persist into Monday, the Weather Service says, with highs again in the 50s before temperatures drop Monday night and skies clear for Tuesday.

The forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 55. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

• Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 40. South wind 7 to 10 mph.

• Sunday: Showers likely, mainly after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 59. South wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Sunday Night: Occasional rain. Low around 50. Breezy, with a south wind 18 to 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

• Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Breezy, with a southwest wind 21 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Monday Night: A chance of rain showers before 1am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 1am and 4am, then a chance of snow showers after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Southwest wind 11 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 35. West wind 11 to 15 mph.

• Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight.

• Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 43. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
