NEWTON FALLS – Fine-based state police charged a mother and son with possessing more than one pound of marijuana following a traffic stop for inadequate plate lamp.
Julie A. Fleming, 44, and her son Patrick R. Fleming, 21, both of Newton Falls were each charged with one count each of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
On Sept. 14, troopers stopped a 2005 Toyota Rav-4 on County Route 60, Newton Falls, for an inadequate license plate lamp. While interviewing the operator, Julie Fleming, troopers claim they alerted to "a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle." Further investigation revealed the Flemings were in possession of several recently harvested marijuana plants weighing more than one pound, according to police.
The Flemings were arraigned in the Town of Fine Court and released under probationary supervision.
