New York State Police are following more than 300 leads as they continue to search for two inmates who escaped from Dannemora Prison Break Saturday.

David P. Sweat, 34, and Richard Matt, 38, were reported missing from the facility early Saturday and are believed to have escaped using power tools and possible help from a third party.

Troopers say approximately 300 leads have been developed since the escape was reported, and each lead is being investigated by State Police and other state, federal and local law enforcement agencies.

The State Police, in conjunction with Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Forest Rangers, U.S. Marshals, and the FBI continue to conduct grid searches of region around the facility to ensure a thorough search of the ground is completed.

Checkpoints have been setup along major routes around Clinton and Franklin County.

The State Police currently have over 100 personnel, which includes uniform, investigative and specialty units on the ground actively searching and following leads. State Police continue to coordinate with several other local, state and federal agencies.

At this time, more than 250 corrections and law enforcement officers are involved in the region and additional investigative services are being applied statewide and nationally.

Troopers continue to investigate leads and tips that have been generated by this investigation.

The public should make no hesitation to report any suspicious activity; that includes any sign of a trespass, burglary or vehicle larceny.
