OGDENSBURG -- All students in fifth or sixth grade schooled in St. Lawrence County are can enter the Daughters of the American Revolution Swe-kat-si chapter’s New York State Flag Essay Contest. The Essay Title and theme is “What the Flag of the United States of America Means to Me.”
The essay can be handwritten in black ink or typed in a non-script font no smaller than 12 point or larger than 14 point. All essays must be the student’s original work. The length must be between 250 and 500 words.
When submitting the essay, the student should include a title page with the student’s full name, address, telephone number or email, the name of their school, grade, teacher and mention the sponsoring chapter is “Swe-kat-si Chapter NSDAR.”
The chapter will chose one essay to send to the state level, which could win between $20 and $100.
The postmarked deadline is March 25.
