GOUVERNEUR -- The New York State Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting on April 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Gouverneur municipal offices, 33 Clinton St.

The DOT will give information and answer questions about a proposal to rehabilitate or replace the state Route 58 (Williams Street) bridge over the Oswegatchie River in Gouverneur.

The DOT wants to develop project alternatives. They anticipate traffic will be diverted around the project site via a Hailesboro Street detour.

Work is expected to begin in the summer of 2015 and wrap up sometime in 2016.

Anyone who needs a sign language interpreter, assistive listening system or other accommodations can request them by calling 782-2218.

Those who can't go but want project information can write to Robert H. Curtis, P.E., Regional Design Engineer, NYS Department of Transportation, Dulles State Office Bldg., 317 Washington Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
