The New York State Conservative Party Executive Committee is endorsing Elise Stefanik in the race for New York’s 21st Congressional district.
This means Stefanik will be listed on the Conservative ballot line for the 2014 general election. There will be no primary.
“I’m honored and humbled that after such thoughtful consideration, the New York State Conservative Party Executive Committee has entrusted their faith in me to win back New York’s 21st District this November,” Stefanik said in a news release.
Matt Doheny, who also sought the Conservative nod, says he filed a petition with 1,025 signatures. A statement says this is about one-fifth of North Country Conservatives.
Doheny said he is endorsed by Conservative committees in St. Lawrence, Warren, Washington, Saratoga and Herkimer counties.
The 21st Congressional district includes St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Franklin, Clinton, Essex, Fulton, Washington, Warren, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis and Saratoga counties.
