MASSENA -- New York Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy will be on hand today for the groundbreaking for Alcoa's Massena East Plant modernization.
The ceremony begins at noon.
A project overview shows that the $600 million plan includes construction of a new potline at Alcoa’s Massena East, formerly the Reynolds Metals smelter, which will produce 144,000 metric tons of aluminum per year; upgrades to existing facilities at Massena West; and modifications to other existing facilities that will help integrate the two plants and support the new potline.
