CANTON – United Helpers' Maplewood Campus nursing home has installed LiteGait, a weight bearing therapy device that provides proper posture, reduces weight bearing, eliminates concerns for balance, and facilitates the training of coordinated lower extremity movement.
When an individual’s balance, posture, and coordination is compromised or nonexistent due to aging, stroke, vestibular lesion, or a musculoskeletal or neurologic disorder, the individual can be either be too afraid or unable to walk properly.
LiteGait redistributes the individual’s weight from the lower extremities to the abdominal region enabling individuals to begin gait training earlier in the rehabilitation process, free from falls.
Patients can use the equipment over the treadmill or over the ground, and with a therapy ball.
