POTSDAM -- The Village of Potsdam has selected Everett E. Basford to be the next village administrator.
The current administrator, David Fenton, is retiring in January.
Basford, presently of South Colton, will assume his duties Dec. 4 while Fenton helps him learn the job.
Basford has been mayor of Heuvelton, and was village administrator in Massena from 2002 to 2011.
Basford holds degrees in accounting and management from SUNY Canton and Clarkson University. He also holds a masters of business administration from Clarkson.
Basford said he plans to move to Potsdam in the near future, the announcement of the appointment from the village said.
“The village is pleased to bring on board such an accomplished administrator who is very familiar with the North Country and the issues of local government,” said Potsdam Mayor Steven Yurgartis.
“Mr. Basford has the experience and vision to help Potsdam continue to prosper,” the mayor said.
