New record high temperatures were set yesterday, April 10, as unusually warm weather reached nearly 80 degrees across St. Lawrence County, according to Weather Underground.
Highs in the southern part of the country, in Gouverneur and Star Lake areas, reached 79 degrees. The previous record of 64 degrees happened in 2014.
The record was recorded at KGTB Wheeler-Sack International Airport in Fort Drum, which is the nearest National Weather Service recording station for Star Lake and Gouverneur., according to Weather Underground.
In Massena temps rose to 78 which was seven degrees warmer than the previous record of 71 set in 1952. The reading recorded at the official National Weather Station at Massena's Richards Field.
The average temperature in St. Lawrence County for April 10 is 41 degrees.
Temperatures in the Canton and Ogdensburg areas were not available when the story was written.
However, the record of 71 degrees which took place in 1934, likely was broken based on temps in other parts of the county.
