A new record high temperature was set yesterday, April 13, as an unusually warm day for this time of year reached 78 degrees across much of St. Lawrence County.
The reading of 78 degrees beat the previous record of 75 set in 1968, according to Weather Underground. The record highs were reported in Canton and Ogdensburg.
Records were tied in Gouverneur and Star Lake as temps rose to 77 degrees tying the record from the same day last year, Weather Underground says.
The temperatures were recorded at KGTB Wheeler-Sack International Airport in Fort Drum, which is the nearest National Weather Service recording station for the southern part of the county.
Highs in Potsdam and Massena also hit 78 degrees but did not beat the previous record of 82 degrees which happened last year.
The temperatures were recorded at the Massena International Airport which is the nearest National Weather Service recording station for the northern part of St. Lawrence County.
