OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has added a new nurse practitioner to its staff.
Stacey Ryan, psychiatric nurse practitioner, specializes in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment including psychiatric medications. Beginning full-time in September, she will be seeing patients of all ages at Claxton-Hepburn’s Wellness Center, located on the fourth floor of the Medical Center.
Ryan earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh, and then went on to Yale University, New Haven, Conn., to earn her registered nursing degree and then her master’s of science in nursing.
She completed nurse practitioner internships at Yale Behavioral Health Services, Yale Internal Medicine Group, and Cassena Care in Connecticut. She most recently worked at Evergreen Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center, North Branford, Conn. Throughout her schooling, she participated in various research and leadership activities and received several awards and recognitions. She was recently featured in the Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing.
Ryan is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has special interests in the treatment of anxiety, PTSD and trauma-related disorders. She is completing basic training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for trauma.
