MASSENA -- The Massena Planning Board has approved a plan to open a Mexican-Caribbean restaurant in the former Bob's Bake Shop, 428 South Main St.
In the application that the board approved last month, Felipe Medina-Cintron says he plans to open by May and hire 15 to 20 people.
The county had previously given their approval. Jason Pfotenhauer from the county planning office said they had no concerns.
Notes on the minutes from the planning board meeting say they discussed snow removal, signage and parking before voting unanimously to approve the application.
Medina-Cintron is planning to lease the building for 10 years from its owner, Timothy Alguire, according to the minutes.
He is planning for 100-person occupancy, but that is subject to an inspection by the code office. He wants to be open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, according to the minutes.
The building was home to Georgi’s Bakery before Bob’s Bake Shop.
