CRANBERRY LAKE -- There's a new chief at the Cranberry Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Michael J. Dolan was elected at a recent department meeting. He replaces outgoing chief Tom Popham.

Dolan is a former assistant chief with the department's EMS wing and is retired from the New York State Police.

In his spare time, he co-authored the recently-published second book in the Adirondack Treasure series, "Isle Royale."

Other new fire and rescue heads for Cranberry Lake include First Assistant Chief Brian Bullard and EMS Assistant Chief Denise Barstow.
