CANTON -- The village has a new police officer.
Canton resident Garrett Fries took the oath of service and became the department’s newest addition after village Clerk Sally Noble swore him in during the July 17 village board of trustees meeting.
“He interviewed really well,” said Trustee Beth Bullock Larrabee of Fries. “I think we have a really stellar young man.”
Officer Fries is a recent graduate of SUNY Canton’s four-year criminal justice program.
His parents were on hand for the ceremony.
In other personnel action, board also approved Fries as a new member of the Canton Fire Department, along with Jacob Leonard and Lisa Newcomb.
