Two sisters writing a book on their bicycling adventures have included a chapter on their trip through Ogdensburg and Potsdam.

Clayton Dorn Coburn and Sharon Dorn Gill in a book recounting their bicycling adventures, include a chapter on their ride through northern New York and into Canada, “Had to Take a Break: Bicycling Misadventures.”

Chapter eight recounts their ride along the St. Lawrence River through Ogdensburg, and into Potsdam, where they stayed at the Clarkson Inn.

The crossing into Canada at Ogdensburg is said by some to be one of the funnier bits.

Clayton, who wrote the book, and Sharon, who illustrated it, are in their forties, decided to just get on their bicycles and ride. They admit they were trying to recapture the vitality and exuberance of youth, and, even if they didn’t completely succeed at that, they did enjoy the natural beauty and the wonderful people along the way, and the challenges they encountered.

The two women will be touring upstate New York through July 27, retracing their ride.
