POTSDAM – Potsdam residents Maria and Wes Matthie have created and are selling a new homemade board game called “Potsdam-opoly.”
The game sells for $15 and takes roughly three or four days to complete once an order has been placed.
“This was our own idea that I came up with one night while scrapbooking,” said Maria.
The game is a historic edition based on the town of Potsdam from 1850 to 1950.
They have worked with the Potsdam Museum to work up questions and information for the game.
“Potsdam-opoly” follows the same rules and objectives as traditional Monopoly with the touch of the North Country.
She said they are taking suggestions and welcome feedback from the public.
“We are working on brighter colors and making the words larger,” she said.
They plan to have a booth setup during the Potsdam Summer Festival and depending on sales and interest may develop more Potsdam trivia-based games.
“We are getting materials from Misty Hollow in Potsdam and have a display at their store for people to see,” Maria said.
To purchase the game, contact Maria or Wes at 261-4653.
