LISBON – Lisbon Central School will start the year with increased enrollment, a new superintendent and a new elementary principal.

Patrick Farrand, a Lisbon resident and former principal at the school, has replaced Erin Woods as the new district superintendent. The district also has a new elementary principal Staci Vaughn, who also serves as the Committee on Special Education chairwoman.

“Mrs. Vaughn has worked in the District for ten years and continues to offer a comprehensive review and recommendations of services for our students with individual education plans,” Farrand said.

The newest administrative team member is Lauren Morley who will assume the role of 5-12 principal.

“Mrs. Morley comes to us from Ogdensburg and has been a great addition to the team,” he said.

Morley is a former Physical Education teacher and is involved in extracurricular athletics as a soccer and lacrosse coach and is also involved in the Ogdensburg Figure Skating Club.

Farrand said the school is also continuing to see and increased number of students. Last year’s enrollment was 579.

“Our enrollment is up this year with (the current) enrollment number being 585 students. This number has been seemingly increasing daily. This is great for the Lisbon Central School District and the community. The students are our future and we are pleased with our numbers,” Farrand said.

Farrand says students and families can expect the same warm and welcoming feel the district has always provided when doors open Tuesday.

“I welcome members of the community to ask how they can get involved in helping out with our District programs and initiatives,” Farrand said.

Last year Lisbon said good-bye to long time teacher Jane Brown-Flack, who retired.

“Mrs. Brown-Flack is a steadfast (educator) that will be missed by many students and colleagues this year for sure,” Farrand said. “Along with the one retirement we have had some staff members take advantages of other employment closer to their families and hometowns and in turn we have had the fortune of hiring some great new staff.”

New staff members at Lisbon Central School include Elizabeth Hafer, elementary counselor/school psychologist, Jason Johnston, custodial and maintenance, Micheal Augliano, high school social studies, John Oliver, physical education/health, Natalie Richards, high school English, Kate Spriggs, elementary grade four, and Emma Carver, teacher assistant.
