Nearly 400 St. Lawrence County National Grid customers are still without electricity, 36 hours after a severe thunderstorm swept through the North Country.

As of 11 a.m. today, customers without power included 107 in Stockholm, 95 in Parishville, 45 in Colton, 42 in Pierrepont, 33 in Norfolk, 23 in Norwood, 19 in Canton, 13 in Potsdam, 10 in Madrid, six in Brasher, and less than five in Waddington, Morristown and Oswegatchie.

National Grid’s website indicates power should be restored by 5 p.m. today in Brasher, Canton, Colton, Madrid Norfolk, Norwood, Parishville, Potsdam and Waddington. The utility is “assessing” the condition in the other communities and has not indicated when electrical power will again be available.

Friday’s storm downed many trees and power lines throughout the county, and began to usher in cooler weather, which was a break from the humid weather with highs in the 90s.
