OGDENSBURG -- A spokeswoman for National Gird says an animal caused a morning power outage that took out power for nearly 1,000 people in Ogdensburg.
The spokeswoman says she was unsure what kind of animal caused the problem, but said it occurred on a pole, not a substation.
About 955 residents were without power in Ogdensburg this morning.
Power went out in the much of the city's fourth ward shortly before 9 a.m., but National Grid had restored power to most of its customers about an hour later.
The DPW placed stop signs at the intersections of Ford Street and Barre Street, as well as at Park Street and state Route 37 where traffic lights were not functioning due to the outage, but they have been restored to service.
