North Country Public Radio garners seven news awards

CANTON -- North Country Public Radio’s news department was honored with seven first place awards in the annual New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Awards Competition at a ceremony in Saratoga Springs recently.

The awards were for best regularly scheduled local news program, Jonathan Brown for “All Before Five,” May 19, 2009; best new special/documentary, David Sommerstein for “Hacketts & Seaway Valley: A Special Report”; best news series: NCPR News Department for “A Year of Hard Choices”; best interview, Jonathan Brown for Dede Scozzafava on “The Soul of the GOP”; best continuing news coverage: NCPR News Department for “Special Elections 2009”; best enterprise reporting, David Sommerstein for “Hacketts & Seaway Valley: A Special Report”; best feature, Jonathan Brown for “Cougars in the North Country?”
