CANTON – The Aids Community resources office, 101 Main St., is alerting people that deadlines coming as quickly as next week require New Yorkers to purchase health insurance in order to comply with the federal Affordable Care Act.
ACR Health Patient Navigators, and other navigators around the county, are available to help individuals and families sign up in time for coverage to begin on Jan. 1.
Deadlines are:
• Dec. 23 for insurance to start Jan. 1
• Jan. 15 for insurance to start Feb. 1
• Feb. 15 for insurance to start March 1 and avoid a tax penalty.
On March 31, open enrollment is over.
Medicaid enrollment is open all year long.
