The National Rifle Association has endorsed 47th District Sen. Patty Ritchie in her race against Democratic challenger Amy Tressider of Oswego.
“As a lifelong outdoors person, I am thrilled to have the support of the NRA and sports men and women,” the Heuvelton Republican said.
“Being pro-outdoors means more than simply standing up to excessive and ill-thought gun regulation, it also means standing for a way of life that thousands of men and women enjoy in this region, and throughout Upstate New York, and recognizing the importance of hunting, fishing, trapping and shooting to our local economy.”
“I am grateful for this vote of confidence from those who share my passion for hunting, fishing and all forms of outdoor recreation.”
Ritchie has opposed efforts to require identifying “microstamps” on firearms sold in the state. That plan passed the Assembly but was rejected by the Senate.
Senator Ritchie is seeking reelection to represent the 48th Senate District, which includes the St. Lawrence County Towns of Canton, De Kalb, DePeyster, Edwards, Fowler, Gouvernor, Hammond, Hermon, Lisbon, Louisville, Macomb, Madrid, Morristown, Oswegatchie, Rossie, Waddington and the City of Ogdensburg, and all of Oswego and Jefferson Counties.
