OGDENSBURG – Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie has issued a proclamation this week in honor of National Nursing Home Week.
The proclamation was presented to the residents and staff at RiverLedge HealthCare & Rehabilitation Center Monday afternoon by Sen. Ritchie staffer James E. Regan.
In the proclamation Ms. Ritchie wrote, “Within every community there exists certain institutions which have played an important role in helping the communities and families of Northern New York. It is the service of this legislative body to acknowledge institutions like RiverLedge, Maplewood and other specialized housing programs in New York State in accord with its long-standing customs and traditions.”
She continued, “National Nursing Home Week provides an important opportunity to celebrate the contributions made by our skilled nursing centers to improving the quality of life for older Americans and people with disabilities. During this celebration all citizens should take the opportunity to visit a loved one, family member or friend and offer a kind word, or the greatest gift of all, the gift of time.”
