MASSENA -- A 39-year-old bouncer at Nadeau’s bar was charged by village police with assaulting a bar patron late last month.
Shawn L. Beauvais of 36 Spruce St. is facing one count of third-degree assault. He is accused of throwing Brian C. Cruz to the ground and punching him in the face in the early hours of Dec. 28.
Cruz told police he was ejected from the bar by Beauvais and Dan Tyo who followed him outside and threw him into the streets and struck him with closed fists, causing bruising to his face and swelling his eye shut.
Tyo, who has not been charged, told police he was not involved in the alleged assault. He told police they ejected Cruz because he was upset and yelling, but came back inside alone and Beauvais later admitted the attack to him.
Beauvais was released with an appearance ticket for Massena Village Court. He could face up to a year in county jail if convicted.
