NORWOOD -- The food service department at Norwood-Norfolk Central is now offering healthy choice food options for classroom birthday parties and other celebrations.
“Other districts already offer this service and we thought that it was time to initiate it here,” said NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank.
The menu features kid-friendly choices that skirt conflict of food allergy issues and not being able to bring in homemade food items to share with the classroom.
All food sent in to schools must be purchased from a store and made in a professional setting. Now, parents can simply call Blue Jay Fenlong at 315-353-4611 and the school will take care of the rest.
“We want to continue to support parents and this is a natural fit for our mission and we are glad to offer this,” he said.
Parents can choose from parfaits, fruity Jell-O gigglers, fruity tarts, gummy work slice apples, angel foor delight, banana-on-a-stick, fresh muffins, dipping veggies, fruit pizza or veggies pizza.
The costs of some items range from 50 to 80 cents or $23 for a pizza that served 32.
