CANTON -- The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St., will host a "Sugar-ing off Party" Saturday, Feb. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Participants at this annual celebration enjoy a reading of Jonathan London's book The Sugaring Off Party, which describes a French-Canadian family’s traditional sugaring-off celebration, including dancing and feasting.
Then step into the book and kick up your heels as fiddlers Gretchen Koehler and Joel Foisy recreate a typical Quebecois house party. They will teach traditional French folk dances and songs and share the secret to playing the spoons.
The NY State Maple Queen and a member of her court will be on hand, and of course there will be wax on snow as well. Admission is free.
