Possible scattered showers and thunderstorms today in St. Lawrence County will bring muggy and humid airmass to the region with the hottest temperatures of the summer expected Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Highs today should reach 88 with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon, NWS says. The overnight low will be around 69.
Thursday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 94 and heat index values as high as 97, the service says.
The high of 94 could be a record for Aug. 11 in St. Lawrence County. The current record high for that day is 90 degrees and took place in 2002.
Temps are expected to remain warm overnight Thursday, with a low of 72 expected.
Conditions are expected to be unsettled by Friday and into the weekend as deep tropical
moisture and an approaching weak cold front combine to produce numerous showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rainfall, the service says.

Sunny and hot, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 97. West wind 5 to 8 mph.
Thursday Night
A 30 percent chance of showers after 1am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 72. South wind 3 to 6 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday
Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday Night
Showers likely. The rain could be heavy at times. Cloudy, with a low around 69. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
