Two motorists have been charged with drunk driving, and one of them with leaving the scene of an accident, after their vehicles went off the road and struck a guardrail in Parishville and a tree in Canton.
Michael C. Randall, 43, of 275 Chapel Hill Road, was cited for aggravated driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and crossing hazardous markings Friday after his vehicle struck a guardrail on NYS Hwy. 72 in Parishville.
St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.s aid he drove away following the crash, but he was located a short time later on County Route 58 where he had gone off the road and into a ditch.
Deputies said his blood alcohol content level was .18 percent, more than double the .08 percent threshold for DWI. He is to face the charges in Town of Parishville Court at a later date, deputies said.
Meanwhile, Christopher E. Dafoe, 24, of North Carolina, was charged with DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at 1:30 a.m. Sunday after his 2007 Ford F150 went off NYS Hwy. 11.
Deputies said he fell asleep, drove off the road and struck a tree head-on.
He was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of neck pain. He is to face the charges in Canton Town Court at a later date.
