COLTON — A man died after the motorcycle he was operating crashed into a 2015 Honda Civic on State Highway 3 Sunday afternoon, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies said Thomas C. Simms Jr., 20, Fort Drum, was driving a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle west on SH 3 shortly before 5 p.m. when he crossed the center line a struck the front of the Honda Civic, being driven by Michael J. Lafave, 23, Canandaigua.
Simms was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in a ditch on the east side of the road, officers said.
He was transported to Clifton-Fine Hospital by Colton Rescue where he was pronounced dead.
Lafave and a passenger in the vehicle, Kaitlin M. Fisher, 24, Spring Water, were transports by Colton Rescue for minor injuries.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Colton Rescue and Cranberry Lake Fire and Rescue.
The investigation is still open.
