State Sen. Patty Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, says four libraries in St. Lawrence County will share more than $160,000 in library construction funds to make upgrades to their facilities.
The following libraries in the region Senator Ritchie represents will receive funding:
• Morristown Public Library: $67,787
• Hepburn Library of Madrid: $42,720
• Hepburn Library of Waddington: $28,650
• Ogdensburg Public Library: $23,087
“The libraries in our region do an excellent job of connecting people with endless opportunities for learning, growth and culture,” said Ritchie, who serves as Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Libraries.
Funding awarded in Senator Ritchie’s district will allow ten libraries to enhance energy efficiency, make infrastructure improvements, improve handicapped accessibility and more.
“I am pleased that through this funding, our local libraries will be able to continue to improve their services for patrons.”
Funding is part of a $19 million capital fund appropriation in the 2016 State Budget for construction and renovation of public libraries and public library systems in New York State.
